How The Month Got Their Names" In Rome?

January: Is named after the ancient Roman God Janus. He had 2 faces - one looking back into the old year and the other forward into the new. 

February: It is named after the ancient roman festival of Februa.............................


March: The first month in the Roman Calendar when there were only ten months in the year. It was named after the God of War - Mars. 

April: It could have been named after Aphrodite the Greek goddess of love. 

May: Could have been named after Maiyaa the wife of the God Jupiter. 

June: Is named after Juno who in Roman Mythology was the queen of heaven. 

July: Julius Caesar the famous roman general gave his name. 

August: Based on Roman Emperor, Augustus, it used only 30 days, but Augustus wanted his month to be equal of Julius Caesar so august has 31 days. 

September: It gets its name from the Latin word for Seven. 

October: Was the eight month in the Roman Calendar that Latin word Octo. 

November: Gets its name from the Latin word for Nine, as it was the ninth month in the Roman Calendar. 

December: Was the Tenth month in the Roman Calendar that Latin word for Ten.
